College Boot Camp for Rising Seniors
College Boot Camp is an interactive workshop that will guide incoming seniors through the entire college application process. Students should bring their SAT/ACT scores, a laptop, and a current transcript.
Topics will include:
- Fully utilizing tools on Naviance
- California State University applications
- University of California applications
- Private colleges and specific application requirements
- Essays – what they are looking for, what to avoid, and how to get started
All incoming seniors should take advantage of this great opportunity to get a jump start on their college applications!

Steps to College, taught by Joan Thomas, is an excellent opportunity for your student to take charge of their own academic future. In the class, students will go through an intense 90-minute workshop three times per year to help develop — and stay focused on — their college dreams. To ensure that students get the most up-to-date information, Joan visits 40 colleges and attends 5 regional and national conferences for college counselors every year. Please see below for the 2017/18 schedule and a brief description of class content.
Classes meet 3 Sundays during the school year.

Topics: College prep course planning, resume building, college research, interest assessment, and visiting colleges
Topics (Juniors Only): College planning (validating course planning and making calculations for college applications), assessment testing to help discover options for college majors, building a college research list, and prepping for applications
Cost: $90 per workshop or $250 for all three workshops
