All classes are taught by Pleasanton Unified School District Teachers who are accomplished educators in the specific targeted curriculum. Our exclusive staff of PUSD teachers includes department chairs, curriculum leaders, and Teacher-of-the-Year recipients from Amador Valley High School, Foothill High School, Hart Middle School, Pleasanton Middle School, and Harvest Park Middle School.
Arick Little is currently the chairperson for the Amador Valley High School Mathematics Department and is teaching AP Calculus and Algebra I. Arick earned his B.S. in Applied Mathematics at Iowa State University and has taught every level of high school math. He has been a mentor teacher in the district and has worked on numerous curriculum projects for improving high school mathematics.
Jennifer Kelly graduated from Boston University (summa cum laude) and holds both a B.S. and a M.S. in Mathematics Education. She has been teaching at Foothill since 1997 and has taught Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Geometry, Honors Geometry, and Math II & III. She currently teaches AP Calculus AB and BC. Jennifer loves teaching and particularly enjoys the one-on-one attention and instruction she is able to give her students at Steps.
Randall Lomas earned his B.A. in Mathematics Education in 1989 at Brigham Young University and his M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Chapman University in 1995. Mr. Lomas has won several honors during his career, including Mesa Intermediate’s Teacher of the Year, the Edyth May Sliffe award, and Pleasanton Partnerships in Education “Excellence in Education” award. In addition, he was included in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, and was selected as the California Association Gifted Teacher of the Year. He looks forward to the opportunity to help students with their understanding of mathematics.
Burt Dixon has been teaching Math at Foothill High School since 1990. He has taught nearly all math courses offered in high school and currently teaches AP Calculus, Math I, and Honors Geometry. Mr. Dixon earned his B.S.and M.S. in Mathematics at U.C. Davis and is currently the chairperson for the Foothill Math Department.
Tom Hall enjoys teaching Physics and AP Physics and has also spent an extensive time teaching Chemistry, Physical Science, and Algebra. He has served as the department chair of the Amador science department and as a master teacher for those entering the teaching profession. Tom earned his B.S. in Geological Sciences from San Diego State University. He has been honored as a PUSD Teacher of the Year.
Eric Thiel taught for seven years at Foothill before moving to Amador. He holds a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in educational technology. Science is Mr. Thiel’s passion, and he has been teaching the subject his entire time in the district. Mr. Thiel is responsible for starting the AP Biology program in PUSD as well as co-creating the award winning “Project Creek Watch” program. He has been honored as a PUSD Teacher of the Year. His summers are spent working at UC Berkeley teaching AP Biology for their Academic Talent Development Program.
Anne Johnson currently teaches Spanish 3 and AP Spanish Literature 5. She is very passionate about the Spanish language and culture, and has spent years studying abroad in Mexico and living in Costa Rica. Ms. Johnson is a graduate of Amador Valley High School. She earned her B.S. at UC Berkeley with a major in Spanish Literature and a minor in Ethnic Studies. Ms. Johnson received her M.S. from San Francisco State in Spanish Literature.
