Counselor helping student with college applications

ABOUT THE SERIES

Steps is fortunate to partner with Joan Thomas of College Mapping to offer students access to the best college counseling in the area. Steps to College is an excellent opportunity for your student to take charge of their own academic future. In the class, students will go through an intense 90-minute workshop three times per year to help develop — and stay focused on — their college dreams. To ensure that students get the most up-to-date information, Joan visits over 40 colleges and attends 5 regional and national conferences for college counselors every year.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

Students in grades 9, 10, and 11 will benefit from this unique program. 9th and 10th graders will get a head start by learning to build resumes, research colleges, plan their college prep courses, visit colleges, and assess their options. Students in the 11th grade will assess career interests and majors, determine target colleges, and build a college research list. In the summer before their 12th grade year, students will go on to enroll in one of our essay workshops and College Boot Camp, which will guide them through the entire college application process.
